Voyage into England by John Seymour

a deeply evocative and magical picture of what it is like to slow down and take to the water

In Voyage into England John Seymour takes a trip around England’s inland waterways with his wife Sally and their two children. It is 1966, and the canals and their surrounding community are changing. Industry is dying and its place a new wave of pleasure boating is arriving. The locks are creaky and there is a lot of weed but in between the many mishaps John paints a deeply evocative and magical picture of what it is like to slow down and take to the water. He meets many characters along the way, and through his experiences shows quite how important the waterways are. We must protect them. We must restore them, and we must use them.
